Hi all, new to this site and forums. Have been reading this one for a couple of months now, while looking for an affordable skid steer. Thanks to a lot of the info from Ausdave I think the jcb1cx would be a much better machine for what I need.. Usually operate a JD317 but the jcb seem that much better for what we do. Was wondering if anyone still had a copy of the service and operating manuals,thanks..
Found a jcb with the peugeot engine, they just had the head redone as it got overheated. What should I look for, to see if they have done any more damage... Does anyone know the best place to get parts for this engine, thanks again. :)

Hi Bustagut.

Send me a message with your email address and I'll send you the operating and service manuals.

Mine has the Peugeot engine as well and I like it. However you do have to make sure it has water, oil and is well maintained :) The Peugeot engine has a timing belt which must be replaced periodically otherwise it can fail and trash the motor. If the previous owner cannot prove that this has been done recently then you'll have to have it done. It's not a big job and you'll have peace of mind.

The parts for the peugeot XUD diesel are readily available from Peugeot repair specialists. The motor was very common in Peugeots, Citroens and in some industrial uses as well as some older bobcats in the '90s, so parts are not a problem. I'm not sure where you are located but if you are on the East Coast of Australia I can put you in touch with a place where i obtained some parts. I have also obtained parts like the throttle cable directly from the UK which was cheaper than local. Rouse Hill tractors also can often supply parts cheaper JCB Australia. What specific parts do you need?

As for the JCB you have found, how many hours has it done and whats the general condition? Does the motor run smoothly and have no oil leaks? It would be a good idea to run the machine and hydraulics to operating temperature and test them under load. The front bucket and backhoe should easily lift the machine. A little bit of very slow leakdown is normal. Check ram seals for leaks and all oils for condition including the chain case which can get water contamination. Radiator should have no bubbles when running and should be using coolant and not water. Check for water pump leaks and condition of bottom radiator hose and hose clip. (Hose clip on my bottom radiator hose wore through/rusted and let go along with all coolant. Fortunately noticed before major damage.) Remove floor plates in cab and check if anything has been done below that looks leaky or dodgy. Check electrics especially around the battery area and fuse box. Dust leads to poor connections and can cause fuse holder overheating and failure. Make sure no-one has done dodgy wiring repair. If the starter motor is weak or noisy it needs to be taken off and reconditioned before it seizes solid. I could go on but I think you get the picture. If you're not mechanically minded or have fallen in love with the machine, have someone knowledgeable take an objective look at it

Any second hand machine is a risk and there is no warranty. But at the right price the 1CX is a sweet machine. Mine was second hand and in reasonable condition. I replaced the timing belt, all fluids and greased all points with moly grease. As far as skid steers go its fairly easy to maintain and work on. You can access both sides of the motor and most other maintenance areas. Having small hands helps.
I have done a lot of heavy work with my machine with the front 4 in 1 bucket, backhoe, rockbreaker, concrete crusher, bobcat grader attachment, roller and more. I'm sure I have exceeded its design specs plenty of times but it's been a champion and I couldn't think of a single machine that could match all of its capabilities. I have been marooned in mud and dragged myself out with the backhoe. (Can't do that with a normal skidsteer). Have been on the edge of a collapsing embankment and stopped myself from rolling with the backhoe and then levered myself out of danger with the backhoe. It's the best combination of a skidsteer and mini ex without having to have two machines.

Let me know if I can help you further and send me your phone number as well. My phone number is 0411 572 725

All the best AusDave

Hi Bustagut.

You can send me your email via private message on this forum or text it to me on my mobile 0411572725

Is the machine over here in NSW? I may have a reason to travel with my truck to S.A. to pick up some machinery. If you buy it I could possibly deliver at a good price instead of travelling over empty.

Thanks Bustagut

Hi AusDave or Bustagut,

I am new to the forum and have a JCB 1CX. Mine needs a new water pump and fan and was wondering if you guys know what model the Peugoet motor is compatible with to help me source one?

Also, I am very keen to get hold of the manuals if any of you guys have them electronically and they are easily emailable.

Thanks,
Lenny.

Hello,

I am in short final for the acquisition of a 2010 1CX High-Flow with Perkins engine. I'd be fond to have an english or french operator and service manuals.

Do you have any idea if the local JCB dealer could get me local safety stickers (foreign machine / liability issue of someone else than me drives it...) ?

Thanks,

Arlequin

Hi Arlequin.

You can send me a message with your email address and i can send you the manuals by return email or contact me via my email dave at machelp dot com dot au (Just change the at to @ and the dot to .)

The local JCB dealer should be able to help with safety stickers or try eBay. Stickers for another common JCB backhoe such as the 3CX may be suitable.
