Here is what happens when an acetylene gas plant blows up right in town, alongside an Interstate highway. This happened here in Dallas in 2007. Check youtube for more videos of this fire, and the cylinders flying out of the plant like missles.

I can remember dad telling about them dropping a oxygen tank off a bridge they were working on in Pittsburgh and the last anyone say it was a mile or more up the river.
