HD21P Allis Chalmers transmission oil.

Does anyone know what oil goes in this transmission? The transmission, torque converter and the steering pump, clutches and brakes all run in the same oil. We have no owner's manual and can't figure out what it should be. Looking online it looks like it may be a Dextron3 ATF or equivalent but we're not certain. The owner thought he'd been using 15/40 engine oil but that's not right. Anybody know for sure? Thanks!

The old spec on the Power Shift Torque units was equivalent to 10wt hydraulic, ATF(Type A or Whale Oil) is equated as Dexron Replaced but is only for severe cold application.

Current transmission oils meeting Allison C3, or Caterpillar TO-4 specifications are what you need. There are many brands available and such is available at farm stores also.

Your oil supplier should have the correct recommendation for your dozer .
