I am helping a friend find issue with his Volvo EC35 machine that overheats only when driving. It can sit and dig and runs fine. He bought it used with about 2,000 hours on it. When he first go it would have to drive it for at least 15 minutes and it would over heat now on a couple of minutes and it will. The engnine cooling system has been checked carefully and find no issue with it. It is the hyd oil that seems to be heating hot enough it heat up the engine or there is heavy enough load that is heating the engine again only when moving it.

Think the issue may be with one or both drive motors but the machine seems to move around fine.

Any ideas on what might be and how to check the drive system?

Put a couple of gauges on the pump outlets to check the load on the pumps.
Drive the machine on the ground, preferably up hill, then back down hill, steeper the better and then lift the tracks and drive them free in the air. Record all pressures and comeon back with them.
