A little late to the discussion, but my father has invented an anti-theft device that solves just such problems. Check it out, we call it Universal Lockdown. We are trying to market it to all the big equipment manufacturers.

That's a good idea, and it will stop some thieves and people who want to "borrow" the machine. But a determined theif will simply bypass the entire ignition switch.
