Lot of Bucks for the bang, IMO. OD micrometers, eBay still has reasonable pricing, same for digital calipers.

Estimating 10 boring jobs per year, okay average bore diameter 5" (??) I would consider Chinese manufactured DTH TG50plus, 50mm-1.99685”Ø and 35mm-1.37795”Ø bars, 13.750”Ø bore advertised capacity, complete kit, tool bits, digital tool setting caliper, setup centering jig, small tools etc. BW350 1.5 to 14.0Ø advertised capacity, 8.2” stroke, BRS type spiral type bore welder. Waiting for current price, was under $8K for both Oct 2016.

Factually I sent you DTH's pdf spec sheets on 9/16/16, my commission 0%. DTH's quoted price has not changed still $7712.00 for both units. About the same price as a basic BRS borewelder!

DTH's 60mm borer has a couple advantages 1)...large diameter boring bar, equals increased rigidity...60mm bars have loads of tooling available from other manufactures, S. America and European. 2)...RDU drive ratio 3:1 means increased surface speed (rpm) that can improve as machined surface finish profiles and prolong cutting tool insert life (carbide like speed) etc. DTH's machines STILL have drawbacks, i.e. manual operation instead of electronically controlled, just like Climax, BRS, Magtech, Hydratight, Hofmann, etc.

I do not need $$$$$! Keeping your' mind challenged keeps you young!

Chinese Combo RDU-AFU 50mm, forget that. Reason, cutting torque reaction will cause the Combo to try and twist around the boring bar. So that is a unstable set up and will cause carbide chipping.Limited to light depth of cuts! DTH has replaced that with a Cmax clone 50mm. Don't buy 50mm or Cmax 1.750 borers. Buy 2.25 or 60mm borer and used small bore reduction sleeves to use smaller diameter bars. Cmax fiddles with their pdf specifications for the BB4500. Same RDU-AFU as BB5000 with heavy wall spindle(s)

Chinese also use lower powered Eibenstock motors @ 1.2, 1.6hp versus Cmax or BRS @ 3.5hp. Cmax Eibenstock motor is approx $2400.00. If you buy RDU, AFU, Motor and 2ea spherical bearings, bit over $10K. Do your own fab for the mounting arms saves $1400.00 ea. Use C1045-1050 bars Melonite surface hardened www.burlingtoneng.com
