We have a pair of Freightliner Classics that could give your Pete's a run for there money. But still you have some really nice looking trucks.

The old LTL Ford looks out of place with a pair of Pete's :laugh

The old Ford can haul just as much just as fast as a Pete and when it was new cost less :thumbsup

Its the darn hood on those old LTLs weigh a ton you need a hydraulic tilt on them

There is a old LTL 9000 dump in the area now its not as clean as the one you drive but its doing the job its got old 425 Cat power.

They are not the most excellent trucks I have seen. The European trucks is a good competitor I think. ;)

Yeah...there ain't nothing quite as pleasing to the eye as a cabover Mercedes or one of those with the stack on the wrong side, strolling up the boulevard...:naughty

chrome

i believe trace adkins tells it best

"Chrome, get her leg up high
on the bumper of my big black Mack truck
With a smoke stack pointed towards the sky
And mud flaps, you know the kind
Chrome,I said hey little girl you sure look nice
Do you wanna ride, I won't bite, she climbs inside
Says hell no, I want to drive "

live by that motto but wheres the chick?!!!:beatsme :naughty :naughty

the LTL was the first tri-axle they bought , it was a friend that bought it new and was getting out of driving.. as more money come in the 07 pete was spec'd, then they got the 01 pete. the LTL has been trouble free with just over 500,000 on it ,but it did just have a inframe right before they bought it four years ago:rolleyes:
we spend the saturday before the show cleaning :Banghead all day(show was sunday)
i love the old girl its a 350 cat that the pump has been played with. i can (for the most part) keep up with the 01 pete which as a 475 cat on a hill and can pass the new macks with 427 like they got the brakes on:bouncegri on the same hill. the 07's got a 550 and that not even worth trying

That old LS Ford must turn on a dime

Most of those set back axle Fords came with 7.8 Power or screaming 318 power.

I like driving the old L series Ford they go anywhere because they turn good and they haul just as much as a Kenworth or Pete.

One of the truck drivers I know has a 07 Pete Tractor he bought the truck before the emmision motors and the new ugly duckling 389 so he got a 379 with 550 Cat power pulls good. The new Cats are designed for low rpm what is it something like 1250-1300 they want to pull at in top gear.

A freind of mine bought a Sterling with 550 Cat power he is still getting used to shifting the truck. You come from a Mack granite with a 12 litre engine to a Cat with enough power to sheer axle shafts.

Things have come along ways in 30 years when a 290 Cummins was big power or a 195hp 6/71 :D
