I have a cat 953D that is blowing oil out of Belhousing between engine and pumps i suspect it is the pump seal that is collapsed or something more serious has anyone else had these sort of problem with a 953D .I am pleased with how the 953D performs and drives but we have had reliability issues turbo track seal final drive brake seals drive motor seal and about 7 hydraulic hoses that have been replaced .The machine is worked hard but not abused i drive it myself .
On another note we are looking for a genuine cat standard crankshaft for a cat951B with a 3304 engine that my uncle is going to rebuild going to rebuild

Welcome to HEF. The Cat guru’s here are awesome but to get the best responses it’s good practice to post a serial number.

Cheers

Pump seal or trashed pump hope for the seal but normally high case drain pressure is what knocks out the seal. Iron peddlers should have a crank I have used after market cranks with no problems too 704-289-8591

Hi thank you for the reply the 953D is getting picked up on Tuesday .Wash it off. The let it drain and get it in the workshop for Thursday i will let you know what the problem has been .Guys i know at Cat dealer did ask if the machine was driving ok .The answer is perfect no loss of power tracked in a straight line only stopped it because i could smell hydraulic oil .We will see when we get it stripped hopefully seal as you said otherwise expensive

we have lifted the hydro pumps out and found the seal on the Hydrostatic pump that had worn and was letting the seal leak. We have replaced the seal and the 953D is back at work everything seams ok but it was a awkward job getting the pumps out

Up date on our 953D we have had to replace e the Hydro pumps at 9000 hours and it seams that quite a few other people have had the same problem at aprox same hoursstarting to consider a John deere 655K or 755K
