I've got a customer with bad wheel cleaner bar wear issues on his 825.

Has anyone had luck with hardfacing these? Top? Bottom? Sides? Weld pattern etc?

Cmark where I used to work we had a template made for a automated torch and we made our own out of hardened steel. You cant really hard face them because it eliminates the flat surfaces to keep the cleaner tight. If you want to try to hardface maybe the first 3 inches of the ends it might give you a little more life but you still want to be able to adjust them.

Used to have good success with hardfacing the first 3 or so inches of the sides of the bar.
Found that if the bar kept its straight sort of profile, they would wear a lot better.
You will notice that most of the time when bars are due for replacement, they have generally worn to a point.
Hardfacing the sides will help with this issue.
