Cat D4 Decelerator question

I was helping a friend with his D4 series II LGP machine. Today is the first time I have been on this machine and the decelerator pedal is really akward to me (and to my frined as well). This is backwards from the Case dozer I'm used to as it has an accelerator pedal. So the question is, does anyone know if the machine is designed so the decelerator pedal can be converted to an accelerator pedal? I don't want to re-engineer the system, just wondering if swapping some linkage around changes the pedal function?

Thanks for your input.
