Buying (new-to-me) Cat D3C dozer

I'm looking at buying a D3C dozer, but wanted to see what year it was made & if anyone knew where an engine for this machine might be found affordably. Serial number is 6SL01802. Any & all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!!

looks like a 1996

Your info is correct. Built 24th May 1996. From the list below it looks as though it was originally built as a very basic machine.

That tractor came with a 3046 engine a 5XK . that engine was fairly common at that time.
such as 315 ,933, D4C D4G ,D5C ,D5G and others.
If you need a complete engine check with equipment scrappers.
