Well, I'm new to this site as I had an engine question about my 277B, but I can throw my .02 in on this one as I do have a little experience. I bought my Cat 277B used with 1400 hrs on it. Don't know if the tracks were original (they did have decent wear on them), but they ran to 2100 hrs before the sprocket lugs started to break off. I bought a set of Rubber Trax from Georgia. First set wouldn't fit, they where too short to even fit on the machine. They sent me a second set, at their cost, but in 200 hrs time had stretched to the point that I didn't have any track adjustment left. Under the 1 year warranty, they sent me a good faith discount on a new set of 50% off. I didn't bother and instead bought a set of Camoplast as that is who the manufacturer for Cat's OEM tracks are/were (that's what I was told). they were a little long to start with, but have barely stretched with almost 500 hrs on them. I do have one track where the tread rubber had a slight split, and now a 6" x 8" section of rubber is missing from the kevlar. I don't expect this track will last a whole lot longer. I can't help but to wonder if Cat has camoplast build tracks to a higher standard than the camoplast tracks I bought. Those original tracks would have gone forever had I kept them tight enough to no allow the sprocket to slip and pop the lugs. Oh well, this is how we learn, right? Now I think I'll look into the Bridgstone and McLarens.
