Looking for a diagram with part #s for the hydraulic pilot valve was told it was part # 249-4745 so I ordered a replacement part for # due to the fact that the part has been discontinued by CAT My serial # will not come up hence I cannot pull up any diagrams on the cat website. My existing pilot valve has 6 ports in a circular pattern the new pilot valve has 6 ports, 5 in a circle and one in the middle? Any help would be greatly appreciated ive included a pic of the ID plate if it helps20240316_145607.jpg

was told it was part # 249-4745
I'm not sure who told you that but from what I can see the correct pilot valve for your Serial Number is a 212-0519. It is the same Part Number for both LH & RH joysticks. See illustration below which is of the installation of the RH side. Does this look like yours from the bottom.?

Ageee with @heymccall. resealing your existing valve is not a difficult job.

The Cat dealer that its currently sitting at is the one who told me that, and yes this is exactly what mine looks like. the 4745 has a port in the center. But what's now even more confusing is even the aftermarket dealer that I bought the part from has the 4745 listed as fitting a 305??? The whole valve assy is only about $300.00 I figured replacing the whole thing would just be easier.

That statement is somewhat correct. However there have been no less than 20 different models of 305 produced over the years and the fact is that although 249-4745 may fit some of them it does not fit YOUR particular Serial Number of machine.

The pilot valve shown in your photo is 212-0519. As regards whether the Part Number is correct for your S/N I chased it right through the 207-8333 Pilot Lines Gp to the 208-2179 Hydraulic Arrgt for DSA00277 and it checked out right down the line.

Thank you for tolerating my ignorance, this is a personal use machine and my knowledge of excavators is very limited (just enough to be dangerous.) But I'm starting to think my local Cat dealer may not be the best place to have work done on my machine. That part number (212-0519) also appears to be discontinued but the appears to have been replaced with 200-1346?? for the low low price of $1893.25. so maybe resealing is in order assuming the seals are still available. Is it just me or does Caterpillars web site and online parts info really suck.

For a 20 year-old machine that's probably true. Dealer labour costs could empty your wallet rapidly.

It does not appear so. 200-1346 a complete pilot control including the handle. See illustration. 212-0519 is the hydraulic control (lower) part of 200-1346.

ALSO, and most important - 200-1346 is in fact the LH control assembly. 200-1347 is the correct one for the RH side, although the 212-0519 valve is common to both.

If you decide to reseal your existing valve you may find the attachment useful.
