    This dam HEAT......

I've decided to never curse the heat, since we spend so much of the year cold and buried in snow. Although, our heat here in Central New York is only high for a few days at a time before it drops to a more average temperature.

    Insurance question

Just an update. I contacted the contractor to talk to them. I did overthink it and should have just waited until the next business day to contact them. The contractor does carry liability and worker's compensation insurance. He provided me with proof on insurance, which I was able to verify...

Multiple operators and owners for TLB around homestead.. good bad or ugly?

I own my own derelict machine. Once you own a piece of equipment, everyone is going to ask you to borrow it, or for you to bring it over. I have loaned out and used my old backhoe at zero other people's property. Because I know dang well something will break out on someone else's property or...

    MF 50H Hour Meter /Tach

2195.3 hours indicated on the machine. Your guess is as good as mine if that is accurate. On my 50H, the cable running to the gauge had been disconnected (unscrewed) from the bottom of the gauge behind some trim panels. The owner was probably trying to keep the hours low before he sold it.

    Insurance question

Thanks guys. That is what I was leaning towards. I unfortunately was stuck working all day today and wasn't able to call them or the insurance agent back to get things cleared up. Back at it Tuesday. I may be over complicating all of this. I just don't want to get stuck with my talliwacker...

    Insurance question

I tried a Google search, but it lead me down the wrong path. Here is my dilemma. I am having a pole barn built and I am in the final planning phases. The barn will most likely be built by the local Mennonites. They do great work here. Before I sign my contract, I want to make sure I have...

    Pictures as promised....

That poor little M37 has been used for everything from ripping stumps out of the ground, pushing dumpster doors shut, flat towing all sorts of old trucks, and pulling my dumb-rear out of the mud more than a few times. It used to go to Hershey and Macungie, PA for shows, (not as a competitor...

    Pictures as promised....

Not this one, this has a 4 Cylinder engine. Its basically just one bank off the 389. I haven't really spent much time with that one. The engine was locked right up and the unit-body rotted when I bought it, but it shares the glass, seats, and a whole bunch of other things with my Buick.

    Pictures as promised....

In another thread I showed pictures of my recently acquired Ford 9N tractor and in the background some eagle eyed members spotted some other vehicles. These are those vehicles. There is a 1937 Mack BX (Factory Cummins Diesel), 1936 Mack BX (Gas), 1953 Dodge M37, 1969 Olds Cutlass, and 1961...

    1990 MF 50H stabilizer hoses

Joe, -8 JIC is the fitting size and type on my tractor. JIC is a 37* flare. I have no way to verify if that is the factory style fitting or if somewhere along my tractor's previous life the fittings had been changed or swapped over. I only changed hoses on mine, and not the male fittings...

    1990 MF 50H stabilizer hoses

Joe, I just changed those same hoses on my 50H, I took them to Napa and had them matched up. I am 90% positive my hoses were 3/8" with -8 JIC fittings. I'll check tomorrow when I get to the tractor to confirm, measure length, and report back. Cost me about $25/hose to replace. Parts manual...

    Massey Ferguson 30E

Tom, I don't know your machine specifically, but I have a 50H. On my machine the FEL and backhoe are separate from the steering. You can figure out a lot by using the www.agocopartsbook.com website. The website is temperamental and wouldn't load for me tonight. Anyway, use the guest...

The things some people will do...

Programs like the one he described and the stupid cash for clunkers incentive are a terrible idea. Lots of good running older equipment/vehicles get destroyed for what people claim is to improve our environment. All it really does is put $$$ in to the hands of the manufacturers and lobbyists...

    Aging and Wrenching

Agreed with above. Sure you can throw heavy parts around like a gorilla, or you can use an overhead crane, jack, or some properly applied leverage to get a safer result. Don't live off the Mountain Dew and Hostess cakes from the vending machine.

    My new 9N

Good eye there Mother Deuce. I'll get some pictures of the trucks whenever Mother Nature stops being an insulting word. Both trucks are Mack BX's. One is a 1936 with a gas job, the other is a 1937 with a factory installed and original Cummins diesel (Very unique for the age). The trucks...

    My new 9N

Well, I did some more testing. Everything was pointing towards the regulator. While full fielding the generator I was able to get the correct charge out of the it. Pulled the regulator off and found a wire melted inside and a set of the contacts burned up. I can't get my phone to cooperate to...

    My new 9N

Messed around with it a little today. Determined that the generator doesn't seem to be charging properly. I'm not sure yet if it's a generator issue or voltage regulator issue. I've been going through some of the Ol' Man's Motor Manuals and cruising some other websites focused on the N-series...

    My new 9N

I recently bought an old 1941 Ford 9N with a Dearborn plow on it. $1500 on auction. She's showing signs of her age, but it doesn't look molested. Still a 6 volt setup. Cold started yesterday after I got it home with no problem. 3pt hitch works smoothly, and all the grease fittings took...
