    Dresser TD8e hydraulic question

I picked up a TD8e at an auction so no history. It has been sitting for some time and wouldn't start - no surprise. Pulled it off the trailer with my TD7e. I held the blade control back with a bungie cord so the blade could ride up as it came down the ramps. When it got to the point on the...

    New format?

Maybe this has already been addressed and I just missed it. I sure hope this new format was necessary and not just someone's need to rearrange the furniture because they need a change or because it is easier to link up with Facebook or twitter. I really enjoyed the old format. It was much...

    AMI Graptor buckets

Any thoughts on these? Anyone know how much? I was wondering about the mechanism itself - think it will hold up or is it just one more thing to go wrong? It's a little more complicated than a pivot on a pin and it's exposed to more dirt but it does detach with the bucket - nice for a coupler...

    Case 580 C king pin

I have a Case 580 C that needs a king pin but I've been putting it off because I know it's going to be a real bit**. The manual says to drive it out from below to prevent damage to the seal. Anyone have any advice - besides turning the machine upside down - I already thought of that one.

Case 580k leaking fuel on top of filter head

Anyone ever seen this? I didn't have any luck with a search. I saw a parts breakdown that showed a couple of $1.00 o-rings and a nut that looks to hold the dual fuel filter head to the motor. I don't know what else it could be unless something is cracked. I guess it makes sense to order the...

    TD7E lower track rollers

I have a 1978 TD7E that needs some lower track rollers. It has 6" pitch chains. I think the ones from the TD7C will also fit. I could live with some good used ones to last as long as my chains and sprockets will. I found some but still need 4 more. Anyone have any leads?

    swing play?

I have a backhoe and have run dozers but never an excavator so I have no experience for comparison. I'm looking at a Hitachi 160. I know the swing is central to it's operation but I don't know how much play or movement if any is "normal". Is it supposed to be as tight as the wheel on a truck...
