    Eimco Dozer?????

Here are few Eimcos in a yard in Moab, Utah. They had mutiple units resting there. A couple still had military paint. I've come across quite a few Eimco dozers in my travels through the western desert states.

    Military Workhorse

The CJ-3B! My favorite flatfender. Those were made 1953-1964 here in the U.S. Overseas they were(are) built under license. Mahindra of India might still be making them. When I was deployed to Okinawa in 1994 the Japanese Defense Forces were still using a bunch of 'em. I don't think the US...

    High track crawler loader?

There are some hi-drive tracked loaders out here in Northern Ca. They are Cat 931's with LGP pyramid tracks. I've never seen them with buckets, only forks. The farmers out here use them at harvest time to load the pallets of freshly picked produce onto flatbed trucks and trailers, usually when...

pics of the used and forgotten

Well, since this thread has been resurrected, I'll post an update on one of the machines featured earlier in the thread( The Allis track loader on page 2, post #23). Recently a bunch of us went to check out Charlie Mansons hideout in the Panamint Mountains and I stopped off at the Keystone...

    Old Terex's anyone?

alan627b, That dozer in the first pic sure looks familiar. It looks like the one that was sitting near the ghost town of Rhyolite near Beatty, Nv. Been a couple of years since I was through that area. I'm going back out there in a few weeks to check out some old mines. Maybe it's still there.

    6.9 diesel questions

You can get the test strip kit and coolant additive at your Ford or International truck dealer. I prefer the International dealer myself as they're prices are generally much less. When my truck still had the 6.9 I would do the test once a year. I'm now running a 5.9 Cummins in this same truck...

    scraper questions

Mass-X, thanks a bunch for your insights. I find this thread fascinating. For all the years that I've been observing these big scraper jobs, I've always wanted to know what the inner workings of the crew were like.

    scraper questions

Thanks. I hope you don't mind some basic questions. I'm very interested in how dirt jobs like that Edison job are run with respect to day to day operations from an operators point of view. What is the typical daily routine for an operator on a job like this? How are operators assigned...

    scraper questions

Great stuff ROP! Always enjoy your posts and pics. Here is a dumb question. What factors dictate how the equipment is parked at night? Am I right to assume they are parked a certain way in order to help the mechanics and/or the fuel trucks do their jobs? Thanks

    Various old things

Here are some things I stumbled across recently. First up is an old Wagner. The sign attached to this beast says it is an 1948 Wagner and used on a large farm in central Ca. until 1968. The pics are'nt the best due to shadows.

    Komatsu in the desert

This D85A has been sitting in this spot for 2 or 3 years now. The owner uses it every few years to keep his mine access road clear.

    If Tractors could talk...

Great pics! As a kid growing up in the San Bernardino area we would use the 91 freeway for trips to Orange County and pass by the Johnson dealership. The best part of the drive for me was seeing what machine Johnson had on display out in front. There was also Deere and Ford tractor dealerships...

    What is it?

The Struck Company has come a long way since those earlier designs. I have an 2004 Model 6000 and it has been an excellent performer for my needs. Here are a few pics.
