    Mobile crane operator apprenticeship

You may find a non union crane rental company to get on with, but in Ontario and most of Canada you will still have to go through the apprenticeship program. In Ontario the non union school is Durham college.

Yep, I may have been able to carry in that drywall when I was younger and stronger, but after parking my ass in a crane cab or truck cab for the last few years I’d definitely have a hard time after just a few sheets.

I’m not 100% sure but I think that the ASME standard says this is the proper control layout, Grove keeps building them with the winch on the far right though. Throws me off every time I jump into one, every now and then I go to boom down and hold the load to find I’m booming up and holding it.

I’m envious of all of the work you have the ability to do on all of your equipment, I’m a decent welder/fabricator and I do turn some wrenches from time to time, but I’d get the cylinder out of the o/r and then I’d have to take it to a hydraulic shop to get the seals changed. I don’t even know...

Whoa, didn’t mean to offend. It’s up to the climber how it’s done. I would have lifted the tree down with the crane, but if it were really that dangerous that the climber didn’t want to tie into it even after a substantial amount of weight has been removed by they crane, I would have tied into...

Up here with road salt and everything I find the steel slings tend to rust on shelves, or mainly on the bottom of the toolbox, and synthetics are better to hang up to dry some. But flat straps are easier to keep track of when they’re wound up the proper way(with the tag facing out for easy I.D.)...

Hooks for the soft rigging, shelves for the shackles etc. If you hang the shackles on hooks the pins will unscrew while you’re driving and your toolbox floor will be covered in pins.

Question for Crane Operator or ????

There’s hydraulic cylinders at the top of the counterweight pendants that lift the weight tray off the ground.

    Swing drive

I think that’s a Tulsa symbol on the gear box, the motor is made by Parker

If I had to guess I’d say it’s the same as the Miller in the background.
