    I recently had a Cat tech do a blade control re-calibration to factory settings & the control issue was solved. Just thought I would add this in case anyone else is having similar problems & it may help them.

    How do we tell the difference between the regular & "long track" machines? Is there more bottom rollers on the long track unit? As mentioned above, mine has 5 bottom rollers if that distinguishes between short & long?

    That's correct, now that you mention it. I do recall a late 60's H875 that I ran a bit that did have a Cummins in it, V8 I believe & also a 560B from the early 70's that had a V6 Cummins as well. See what age does to ones ability to recall things??;)

    Repairing older style dozer final drives D6D

    Mine had a similar amount of fuzz in the plugs after running it perhaps 25 hrs or so, if I recall correctly. My oil didn't turn dark though.

    Looks like a nice old machine! Any idea of what year it is? Early 60's I'm thinking. Parts may be hard to get for the Allis, but you'll likely find some if needed. Good luck!
