Vermeer Woodchippers

Thinking about bidding on a woodchopper at the Ritchie Auction next week. The two I am interested in are 2006 BC 1000XL Vermeer with 785 hrs and a 2007 BC 600XL with 385 hrs. Quite a difference in size. Anyone have experience with these machines? Cost of new blades etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Go with the bigger machine it handles twisted crooked limbs much better the hours on as long as it was taken care of should make you rest easy basicaly if the machine looks good and it came from a reputable company then I say go for it but watch out for rental machines that were not rented by a vermeer dealer most look nice but the hours could have been rough ones I worked for a rental yard once in my younger days about 20 years ago and the used machines that went to auction were called crap filed twinkies for a reason like I said before the bigger machine wil get you more bang for the buck but if your seriously intrested in that machine talk to the auctioneer and see if you can get background info on it

Zenith cutter for blades they had the best pricing when I bought mine plus check the anvil usually you can flip them 4x but if you get blades might be god to order anvil if its worn on disc chippers adjustment of the anvil is critical to efficient operation the drum style I'm still new to so dont know much about them

Just a update…I didn't have a chance on either machine. The big one sold for 20 grand and the small one for 15. Thats nuts.

Wow that is nuts a sign I'd the times the volitile steel prices a couple years back drive up the equipment prices this could be the remnants of that best to check the web sites I know vermeer has a used listing our a local dealer you may get a better deal
