there's a lot going on with that truck, the chrome, the chickenstick mirrors.
I like that cat on the left side, meow!
It's a typical east coast rig, covered in pots and pans. Bumper guide's, fender spot mirrors &
mud flaps hanging in front of steer tires with lots of nick/nacky chrome handles & knobs.
The one item that I never could understand why it was ordered-spot lights. I don't really know
anyone that had them ever used them, I think it was just more chrome fodder than much else.

I use em occasionally. Mainly when I drive into a pit in the woods in the dark and I'm trying to figure out where the last guy left the excavator. Oh there it is, up on that bench where my headlights won't shine. Assuming they work, that is.

40 year plus driver wanted bumper guides on one of the companies new T990's he was getting.
So boss let him have them, I ordered and installed them. Three weeks later I ordered a new KW
replacement bumper at the cost of $1,800 and threw the sticks in the scrap bin. In less than one year
after all 5 new T 990's hit the road I replaced 4 bumpers out of 5 $7.200 on bumpers----How would
the members of HEF like to absorb that kind of wallet rash and that's just a small/pittance of the
kind of crap torn up in a fleet of 65 tractors. By years end on average the amount of rash adds up
to the cost of 1 new tractor-$210,000 plus/minus and that doesn't include what is turned in to
insurance. T990 below.

While I don't want to make excuses for poor drivers I wonder if there is something in the optics sitting in the seat of a 990 that leads to this. Did you have similar damage on the Freightliners?

In the 20 years there I don't know how many bumpers I installed. The Coronado gliders--If I bought
less than 30 bumpers I would be surprised-Those were $1,750 each and we had 24 gliders. The Herd
elk bumpers I replaced the mounting hardware on damn near every Cascadia we had, some three times
from drivers pulling up in parking lots bending them on high curbing. Cost for mounts $800.00 each.
I replaced no less than 11 bumpers at the tune of $ 2,900 each without mounting hardware. Very few,
like maybe 2 were bent from animal contact.

Until someone sees the carnage first hand working in a fleet shop, they have no clue as too the
damage incurred by drivers of any age for {various} more than likely stupid actions/reasons.

Towards the end, the last three years much of my time was spent repairing trashed/thrashed equipment.
I would say some weeks up to 40% of that weeks labor went to repairing torn up tractors/trailers.
