Watch out for that bump!
This happened while hauling a Cat 980G last night after experiencing some Caltrans handiwork
SB 86 expressway jno Hwy 78.
It's 2:00 am, its dark and other than the skid marks going off the road after the invisible speed bumps, there was absolutely no warning.
I usually have no problem running along at 65ish, loaded , in the middle of the night out there... There's nothing out there but desert and now....speed bumps. I thought the trailer was going to break in two. My speed was (only) set at 58 mph via cruise control. I don't remember why other than I wasn't in any kind of hurry.
I didn't notice the damage until 30-40 miles later when I unloaded in El Centro.
Trailer is a 2007 Cozad expando.
Steer .....12,700
Drives ....43,600
Trailer.....51,500
Gross.....107,800 and some change...
This combo is permitted for 120,000 so I was well within my legal load limits.
I'm going to head out with a video camera and get some footage of cars and trucks hitting this stretch of road. I'll then give the footage to my attorney and go after Caltrans, the state, the county and anyone else we can think of for damages. This is total BS... Had I wrecked and killed someone last night you know that everybody and their brother would be coming after my ass for a free piece of pie.
a life of crime is looking better and better every day.
