Hello. I have this skid steer and I need to know the year it was made. The model number is 262C and the vin. Number is CAT0262CCMST03653. It also has a running problem. It cranks up fine and runs good but after about 5 minutes it starts blue smoking, skipping, derates, and won’t move. It only shows 450 hours. Need help. Thank you for any information you can give me to help.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
Your machine was built on 20th September 2010.
I'd be interested to hear why you need that info because ordering parts or obtaining service information is all based on the machine Serial Number which is the last 8 characters of the 17-character PIN - MST03653 in your case.

What have you checked (if anything) so far.?
When it "derates" do any warning lights come up on the instrument panel.?

Most Important: Do you have an Operation & Maintenance Manual for it.? If not and especially if you are planning on doing your own maintenance you should really get one ASAP.

Thanks for responding. We just purchased it knowing that it had engine problems. The machine is only showing 428.2 hours on the hour meter. Because of such low hours, we were under the impression it was a good bit newer. There are no codes showing and we have checked the dipstick tube and there is no blow by. We looked in the radiator and there is no bubbles. We are about to service the whole machine and definitely get a manual for it. Thank you.

The O&M Manual is Publication Reference SEBU8019. You can download one from - https://catpublications.com/ Click on "Continue as Guest" when the popup appears.
Put SEBU8019 in the box and click search. You should see the image below. If you select a download it will be available within 5 minutes or less.

The Parts Manual, if you want one, is SEBP4566. Use the same method as above to download or search the usual internet marketplaces.

OK, so go back to my Post #2 above and answer those questions.

Next thing you should do is to drain water & sediment from the fuel tank and the sediment bowl under the fuel filter.
Following that you should remove the fuel filter/water separator element, then remove the filter head assembly from the engine. Take out all the elbows, fitting, & blank plugs from it and blow through every passage in that filter head with compressed air.
Install a new filter and check the priming pump is operating correctly. Turn the key to the ON position, the fuel priming pump should run and fill the fuel filter.

We went ahead and serviced the whole machine and discovered the fuel pump is not working. We blew out the lines and we are awaiting the new pump to come in. Thank you for all the help and we will install the new pump and prime it u and let you know how we come out.

We have installed the new fuel pump and it runs like a new machine. Thank you for all the help, that saved us a lot of hassle. We are in the process of ordering an operation manual for it as well.
