Is it Worth it to buy Bobcat 853 for $ 4000 - thinking it can be a winter project for husband (diesel mechanic) just don't want to lose money. Already own a 753... He thinks after a quick look it may need a cylinder repair. App. 2500 hours.

I'm not sure what cylinder needs work (hydraulic or engine) but either of them can be fixed in a weekend or two and you could more than double your money.

Need a little more info to help you. What does cylinder repair mean? Hydraulic cylinder, engine cylinder-1 cylinder or all 4 cylinders? I wouldn't trust the 2500 hours but please elaborate a little more. You buy used equipment needing repairs, there's no guarantee's you won't lose (sometimes a lot) of money.
