Hello
My name is Filipe Silva, i'm from portugal and i want to buy a small excavator to move some land (Gardening), and do some little excavations to build fenses to my new house. I just sell a backhoes Case 580 K (Too big to my work) and i think a small compact excavator is better to me.
I also have a small "dumper"

i've see a 3500 hours Kubota KX41-3S (1.5T) 10,145.73 USD with only a cleaning bucket and a Volvo EC25 (2.5T) with 3 Buckets with 6700 hours 10,823.95 USD and the engine rebuilded.

I tryied both and both are strong without leeks and good tracks (more than 80%) with only smalls looseness in the attack (normal for the age).

Is 6700 hours to much? I think i will need something like 200 hours of work and then sell the excavator. Is 1.5T enougth or is better have a 2.5T Machine?

Thanks for your help

I have a friend who loves his Kubota 41, but like JG, I would be inclined to go with the bigger machine. Getting buckets adds to the Kubota price. If your going to flip it after 200hrs, I suspect you'd get your money back with the Volvo, as it is complete. Also, are you in need of a thumb? The Volvo probably has that plumbed. Volvo could handle trees better than the Kubota.
The other side is that the Kubota is easier to trailer around...a 7k trailer and your good to go. Much easier on fuel.
Write a list of what you need to do with a machine, and figure out which machine can do it. Gardening is a bit vague. Are you digging in loose soil or clay or rock?

I have a new player:

Kubota U35 (3.5T) with 4 Buckets and 3500 hours for about 11,241.37 USD

Sounds like some great deals to be had in Portugal...where I am from, we'd be looking at double those prices, assuming they are tight.
Have to post the year of these machines...and whether they have a canopy or cab. Makes a difference.

Here he go

Kubota KX41-3S (1.5T) Year: 2005, cab, 3500 hours, 1 cleaning bucket 10,145.73 USD (Origin Unknow)
Volvo EC25 (2.5T) Year: 2004, cab, 6700 hours, 3 Buckets 10,823.95 USD (From a Rental company and + 1 owner)
Kubota U35 (3.5T) Year: 2002, cab, 3500 hours, 4 Buckets 11,241.37 USD (Only 1 Owner )

I think the Kubota U35 is the better option, do you agree?

Thanks for the help

I would be looking at the U35 myself...see that it checks all your boxes and look the machine over really well, and paperwork on it. Beyond the obvious checks, I'd look over all the hydraulic motors, and ask to see the oil from a drive motor (mainly to see if the guy changed it, and any metal in it).
Check slop in bucket, arm and boom, and lift both tracks off ground and check all rollers and idlers for slop.
A test drive to see it tracks straight, and using multiple hydraulics while moving.
Research the year to see what issues the machine has...
Good luck.
