Rubber Tire- Good in subdivions & small parking areas where you're making a lot of pulls. Work well for overlays and highway paving also. Will get stuck pretty easily under certain conditions if your not careful.
Tracks- Good for mountain paving. You can pave either up or downhill (I know first hand with a Blaw Knox 5510,4410). Great for overlays, paving over petromat fabric, paving over soft sub grades (winter conditions). Can be used in small areas (I know first hand with above listed machines), but do need to be careful with turning and tearing up sub grade. Getting stuck is obsolete....as long as your careful.
Back in 1999, we put down right around 10,500 tons of asphalt in a 10 hr day with a Blaw Knox 5510/Lincoln 660H pickup machine. We still hold the record for most tonnage put down in a single day.
