Not sure what this crane is called but its one of 4 at the PAC . The counterweights move on this one. Boom down and they travel away from center

Here in Aus we just refer to them as a "Favco". Technically that is the name of the manufacturer but everyone knows what your talking about when mention a Favco.

UV degradation?

Yeah I know, but the pipe sets in the pipe yards forever... then we have to cover them for a week .. we were getting a load or two a week.. and more or less using it as it was delivered... so it was quite the pain...

any pipe dealer in the area the pipe sets uncovered...

I put this in the crane section because of the 150 ton Grove hydro and the 180 Demag hydro cranes used on a 911 of the performing arts building. while tensioning the cable suspension for the glass front and roof a major weld failure took place.German company designed this and had to fly their people in to look at it

Also when it broke the pipe leg sprung outward so hard that it broke some of the precast concrete. It was rewelded and put back in place. Was told by an iron boss that the engineer said "These things sometimes happen".Not what I wanted to hear.

I do not believe that pipe is cast because of the welding that was on it . Also the upright pipe are NOT bolted to the floor . Cable tension holds the bottom in a ball and socket looking set up , One of the repairs looked like a pipe over a pipe but the outside pipe was cut different . Had square notches in it to get more weld surface .

One of the repairs had electronic sensors screwed in it to apparently keep track of it while the tension was put on it.
