TD8E won't start

We just completed the installation of a rebuilt D239 engine (from Broken Tractor) into our TD8E (Serial Number 4420016U083049*). At first we could not start the engine. It acted as if it was not getting fuel. After what we thought was purging air from the fuel system we were able to start the engine 1 time - the first and only time. It ran for a little less than 60 seconds. It ran at high RPM and was stopped by choking off the air intake. We can not get the engine started again. Despite repeating our air purging, the engine acts as if it is not getting fuel. Injectors are clean and we have verified that the pump is getting fuel to the injectors by disconnecting fuel line from each injector and observing high pressure squirts of fuel.
The fuel pump (Bosch VA4/10H 1250CR90) was operating without problem on the previous engine before engine replacement.
We have spent a lot of time trying to get this dozer running and at this point are really stuck, running out of good weather, and the winter paddocks for the cows need work before we have to pull them in off pasture. We would really appreciate some help.

easiest way to bleed the fuel system is to loosen off one injector line at the injector and spin it over until it starts ... then tighten the injector....this is probably one of those fuel systems with a start position for your throttle setting .....very fussy fuel system make sure you leave it in the start position until it fires then throttle it up slightly... if the engine starts to run away then you have a pump problem....

IT may be out of time ,,180 degree out.. did it throw your oil out when it started. I've had two to do this ... what it does is run backward and it will throw all your oil out be sure you check your oil before you start it back or you will blow your motor up when it does start back ... try turning all fuel off of it and try starting it with starter fluid ..hope this help

That fuel system is finicky.. the 2 levers on the pump are touchy..top lever should be all the way to the right..bottom lever, JUST TOUCHING the right spring loaded shut-down for starting. IF the bottom lever is pulled to far to the right, your getting into the shut-down mode..Dont rely on the operator lever controls, as they may be misadjusted..Disconnct them and operate the pump levers by hand..
