Might try disconnecting the intake heaters and giving her a little snort of ether. If you do not disconnect or pull the fuse to intake heater may cause an explosion. Modern fuel systems have little fuel timing advance (emissions) built into injection systems. All intake heaters do at elevation is heat up the air and thin out already thin air.

Hi,
I have an old Aveling Barford with a Normally Aspirated, and definitely non-computerised... engine. At Sea Level sites it starts "one kick", however, whenever working on our farm at 6,000ft it can take many seconds (20?) of starter rotation before it starts. The start then resembles a start where air has entered the injection system after running out of fuel - ie one cylinder after another. So perhaps try running the starter a little longer - being careful not to overheat the starter.... However, I'd have thought this shouldnt affect such a recent machine....? On our other diesel vehicles at that altitude we often switch on the pre-heater 2-3times before starter rotation - which seems to help.
