SPECTRA GL612N Grade Match

Hey guys, I have a single slope Gl612N that I plan to use to install some drainage pipe, which obviously needs pitch. I got it in an upon playing with it I noticed that if I shoot a grade and then input a slope, it will give me that slope but move off of that previous spot. Same with grade match, if I shoot a grade and then move to the next and grade match, it works but will not stay on the first grade I shot. Is there a way for it to lock onto the first grade and then slope from there? Thanks
