Lots of carriers contract to haul for the government. Most of the time it’s through a broker, Landstar, Nationwide logistics, etc. Typically if it’s a heavy haul it’ll be a smaller specialized company. We don’t ship many M1 platforms but the recent ones have been hauled by owner ops.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
Never had one come in or go out on less than 11 axles though lol
Amazing to those of us on the other side of The Pond........
The STGO 3 plate on this truck permits up to 330k pounds GCW provided there are a minimum of 6 axles between truck & lowboy, with a max weight on any individual axle of 27.5k pounds. It looks like this combination has at least 8 if there are 3 on the trailer.

Nige not saying these trucks are this but how much weight do they haul with a tractor with 1 drive and 1 tag or pusher? Also how much fuel is saved by not running a twin screw?
Doug it's the same max GCW irrespective of whether the tractor is a 6x2 or a 6x4 - 44 tonnes or 97k pounds when a 3-axle tractor is coupled to a 3-axle trailer.. Max axle weights are 8.5 tonnes for a non-driven axle or 10.5 tonnes for a driven axle. That being the case the 6x4 has a little more flexibility regarding individual axle weights but that will still not affect the total GCW.

Fuel consumption-wise 6x2 are apparently somewhere between 2.5-3.5% more economical on fuel than their 6x4 brothers all other things being equal. These days it's common to see a lift-up axle on the tractor and maybe 2 axles on the trailer, so a lot of difference in tyre wear when running empty.
