I remember seeing an old 660 c@t like one on the display out near Colarenabri in the early '80s, being tested, building a storage. Pushed by a D9G, loaded 45yd3 in 40-45 seconds. They had a valve to lift the front wheels off the ground to put more weight on the drive for traction. I think the bloke was offered 5 machines @ $13k a piece. They were antique then.

That 660 was still working at the Rochdale landfill prior being purchased by Paul Clarke the current owner in NZ along with it's mate. Roy Davis of Earth Pro also owned them at one time.

Great clip.First dumptruck i drove was a payhauler. We had six of them in a steep, very boggy in winter time, mine in the s.w of Western Australia. We also had 2 Hough 400,s with screaming G.M,s in them.Later we got a Hough with a V12 cummin,s in it.Before we got down to the hard rock which was upto 60 feet down we had alot of mainly white clay and in winter the inter,s were the only dumper,s that could work these pit s,the 2 wheel drive dumper,s did,nt stand a chance. We had 2 R50 Euclid,s with V12 cummins in them, these thing,s could pull out of the steepest pits fully loaded when it was dry like they were empty.Love the old gear.

I worked on a hydro dam site with some of Bakers gear in the early 80s. They had Inter 140 and 340's and Cat 769's. One of the things I noticed about the Inters was how little spillage there was on the haulroads compared to the Cat's. There is an outfit purchased some of Bakers gear when the closed down, refurbished them and are still in daily use.

Credit to the New Zealander,s,they love the old gear, they look after their old gear and they hang on to the old gear.I like that they have a variety too,not just all Cat,there,s alot of Inter,s and that Euclid scraper is like nothing ive seen before. The Euclid dozer,s look,s like a brute of a thing too with that blade. All the other gear is A1 too.Well done to the.people who.keep them going.

There are still quite a few TS 14's, Wabcos and Allis Chalmer dozer in use. Back in the early 70's I operated a HD6 and scoop very similar to the one in the video. Another bloke near by had the same scoop but towed it with a Ford County, great little jiggers for small jobs.:D And can't forget the Inter dozers, loaders and Payscrapers

It was a necessity to rebuild gear in NZ because of poor lead times to get parts. The same outfit that I worked for with the HD6 had a FL545 which **** a planetary hub - 6 mth wait for parts so they made their own. 3 days and nights it took the workshop boss and had the loader working in a week. Oh the good ole days
