Looks like a D11 slid into a box cut while cleaning up around a dragline. Nothing like a bit of brute strength to lift 110 tons out. These photos have been around for a while but worthwhile posting again while there is a good D11 thread going. Not sure of location but not here in Oz as it appears to be snowing.

Have put some more from there in "Other Earthmoving Equipment - some Aussie Photos"

Wish i had a pic of when we dragged one of the 11's out of the pit with the other one chained ripper to ripper after the engine seized, with Loader 2 following behind... just in case! That was just as I started there (early 01)....

This old D11N doesn't look like much but it has over 100,000 hours on it. It will be getting an award of recognition from Caterpillar next week.

Would be good to see how Cat honour that machine, 100,000 out of an 11 is some pretty good testament to the mainframe.

Those photos were taken at the Black Thunder Mine "Worlds Largest Surface Coal" in Wright Wyoming. The dragline is a BE 2570WS 'Ursa Major' largest in N.America.160 yd bucket. I know the man that took those pics and rigged the lift. Spectacular, but a fast, safe and easy way to remove the 11R.
