operators don't grow on trees. Every outfit I have been around will let a young guy in the seat when the hook is not busy. Did you ask? Get back out here and tend hook and ask.

Most crane training companies offer practice time on different types of cranes. This is usually available in 2-hour blocks, and you could purchase two blocks or as needed. This is a nice option because attending a course is not a requirement. We offer this in the states and could possibly point you in a direction in the UK. I'm not sure if you have something similar to the operating engineers union? If you can join the union or an employer in the union they provide training. There is a training facility very close to my property that has brand new crawler, all terrain and rough terrain cranes for teaching new operators and I think also for operators to upgrade their skills.
