A truck that was a total pos, only a half a grunt from becoming a wet fart, other wise
known as a sh!t stain. The edges of cab metal work especially the dash was like putting
your hands into a blender. Sharp metal edges, the wiring, heating and AC system was a
joke--freeze or fry, not much for insulation or sound deadening material.

I spent 3 years on one of these, our “yard horse”. At 17 years old I didn’t care. It was way cooler than those fords and gmc’s

In 1958--a 2 bedroom house was $8,900 a three bedroom $9,300. Gas 22 cents.
In 1958 a new 924 KW cost roughly $12,500 depending. A new Brown 40' flat bed $3,700.
In 1958 diesel was average price of 20 cents. The one on the right is a 48 and down the
one on left 53/54 vintage by radiator shell. The 48 has no vent windows.

Saw a J series Cummins the other day,
I know of a complete J six cylinder---but definitely not for sale, It really isn't a collector item.
A good visit to the shear would remove any desire. Gaskets are non excitant, could have them
made but what's the point.

Be much more fun to see it snipped.:) ---as that remark garners boos from the gallery.

Would have left for Portland at about 12 last night but I told them this tow would make
no difference. Truck had a radiator issue and changed about a week ago. Thursday it
made the Freightliner shop in Portland it's home for a few days. Bolts to trans oil cooler
didn't get tightened or installed correctly--holds 14 quarts--had one quart in it. Roasted.
So this time around Freightliner is able to start on it this Friday morning, have a DT12
AMT on hand plus other sundries to repair it----$34,000. Then the battle with the
independent starts that replaced the radiator. This time around I told them yesterday
that it wasn't worth the trip---nothing gained.
