I think the scale of the job is the difference here. On smaller projects cutting works great. For a large scale job with thicker concrete no way. On the projects like CM is talking about I would prefer to use cutting over breaking as well. When I do bridge demo we will cut the decking off and load it out as we go.

We use a combinaton of the two for interior removals. First saw cut the perimeter for clean cut lines. Then we hammer it out in pieces in a 3x3 gride. The hammer is less exspensive to use than the saw.
We then use an excavator with thump to load out or pile it up for the skid steer to remove.
