I have two 45ft class 2 treated for saltwater use poles. The saltwater treatment was only $5.00 per pole extra but not really needed. I have 90 2x6x8 pt boards on it now but they are in rough shape and need to be replaced.
Why pay $750.00 for boards alone when I can lay a trailer there? I'm also debating about ripping off the 2x6s and lay the trailer on the 2 poles.

If the old bridge is strong enough, you can drag or push the trailer deck across it before you take it out. You could probably do it yourself with your tractor and excavator which then could handle each end to set it.

you have something to lay the trailer across with? Or you going to roll it across the existing, then demo the old to drop the trailer through?

Edit- JaredV posted the same idea as me, he was just faster.

Treat any wood with diesel and/or used motor oil to make it last longer
Yeah, I'm sure he wants that in his pond when it rains and washes it off the boards. Get a nice oil sheen.

The poles are in very good shape so I am considering that after removing the 2x6 boards. Between my tractor and excavator together it should be no problem.

Why would be a shred on the pond? Are you pouring oil in the water or something?
