this will seem like a stupid question. nobody can tell me how often to grease a u-joint that is under a fair size load but almost no angle to it; anybody know?
8-200 hours would be in the range. The angle doesn't have much to do with it. Environment and quality of the seals is the biggest factor, assuming it's roller bearings, not plain bushings.
I’ll add it’s important the correct grease is being used, someone is actually greasing it at a regular interval and each cross bearing is getting grease. Find an interval that’s convenient and easy. Daily inspection? Weekly? Based on hours?
thanks Coaldust. I did notice that just because the grease was showing up at two of the seals i had to give a couple more more pumps for it to reach the other two.
