Steering clutch linkage mechanism could have become jammed and held the clutch disengaged. This can happen due to sticking bearings in shafts in the linkage or a stick becoming caught up in the mechanism.
I've had a big stick find its way into the transmission compartment from below, via one of the holes in the belly guard.
It poked one of the control linkages and gave me a bit of a start, until I figured out what was happening!
