I like the eltec. Volvo originally built it and then decided to go into paving equipment and sold it to a guy named Patrick element who has logging operations in Quebec. They took it and improved it greatly. It started out with 130? Wires going into the cab and now it has 13? The side opens up and you can walk completely around the engine and pumps. The harness’ Have breakouts every few feet so if you have an electrical issue it’s easy to find it. Very operator and mechanic friendly.

Always good to hear what a mechanic thinks about a piece of gear. Thanks for that and the pics!

Love it especially on steep ground, after coming off a 653E with a fabtek it’s nice to run and fuel economy is a nice change. My only complaint is height for moving it, out lowboy deck height is 24” so we’re right at 14’5” to 14’7” nothing like the tethering machines out here though.

How are the 240’s holding up with the skidmore heads? We were back there almost two years ago looking into them.

I used to do a lot down there. You work for C&C?
They are the only big thinning guys left that I can think of.

No we have been thinning for fibre and now Weyerhaeuser since the late 80’s, Ramco use to have the site with the 608 that worked over here on Longview Fibre along with us. C&C is hard to beat for size that’s for sure most of us thinning have a side each, it’s easier when you’re one of the owners being on the ground for quality control.
