A 300 six with 200,000 miles is just getting broken in. I read somewhere that it was originally intended to be a diesel engine but don't know if that's true. They even had them in 1 tons. The 4.3 litre V6 Chev put in 1/2 tons trucks was a gutless wonder.

The Rt is a little handier here than the 35, it gets really crowded if I have to back the 35 up to the building, leaves very little room to work. The main truss pile was off to the left of the pile of hats next to the portajohns.

The power line is actually further away than it looks, but its not in a really handy spot, I try to leave the trusses low until I get them swung away a little, just so they don't get turned at the wrong time.

The roof is actually two halves, with a firewall of densglass between the two half sections in the roof.

Trusses the other day on a true "log" cabin. Full logs.

Unfortunately I had to go do a night job after this job, and the old 25 didn't make it. I was about 15 minutes away from the night job, and the air compressor let go.

Went back to the shop and got the mack. It has a big boost leak in the air to air, and not much for lights for night work, but I got it done with it. The air leak is a big bad spot in the air cooler.

I called Mack dealer, over $2,000 for a air to air from them, and can't get it for a couple days (like that matters at that price:rolleyes:). I've got one coming from the truck parts place for like $520.

Don't anybody get smart either about how the siding looks a little funny beside a couple of the upper floor windows. The trim guys did that with their manlift. Really.

And I have no idea why its only beside the windows we've been putting sheetrock through.....

got a little wet this afternoon. I took the 35 over to remove these signs. The sign guys had a 135' manlift ordered from kansas city, and when I went and looked at the job this morning, I knew the manlift wouldn't reach it. Between too far away, and too crooked/ sloped of a parking lot, I could see what was coming.

Sure enough, the manlift wouldn't do that much radius, so I had one of the guys bring out the Mack with the fixed basket, and we pulled the signs together.

I went and set a little A/C unit this morning, and when I got up on the roof, there were rocks scattered all over the roof. I'm thinking "where the dickens did those rocks all come from?"

It was at the local boys and girls club, and when I walked over there, I could see that there was another playground around the back side of the building.

You just know those little knuckleheads, are spending their playground time seeing who can throw rocks further onto the roof. And some of them were pretty good sized rocks.

When the HVAC guy came up on the roof, he said he threw down 11 footballs, its going to be like christmas tomorrow at recess time.

Took a rigger/ signal man with me today. Powerlines, greasy on top of a slope, bunch of amish carpenters I haven't worked with before, I wanted someone I knew on the tag rope. 3 ridge beams on a new house.

My rigger didn't think I could reach the trailer for the second two beams, we picked and carried the first one in there, and I didn't feel like moving crane back over there. The old rusty eyeball said we were close enough.

Nice view from the deck of the house.

We wiggled the crane over between the poles for the far beam, I had picked it off the trailer and set it beside the house before I moved the crane.

I would have had enough chart to set all three from the driveway in front of the garage with my 35, but the driveway wasn't wide enough, and I couldn't get jib swung.

Galion came through, did need the 4x4 though, and my rigger doesn't like it when tires come off the ground walking it on a slope.

They're amish boys, they'll figure it out. They did howl about the crane + rigger cost. I should have doubled it, because I know there's no one else who was going to do it- including who ever it is, that usually does their crane work, because they've never used me.

Had to go lift a hopper at a concrete plant today. The upper hopper wasn't quite high enough above the lower scale hopper. They are going to automate, and the scale hopper couldn't quite hold enough, so we raised the top hopper and legs 2' or so.

The hopper legs were welded to imbeds. I actually just used one spreader, and lifted it 1/2 at a time, to make sure each side was cut loose. Then I put on the upper bar and the second lower spreader, and picked the whole thing.

Christmas tree went up on Sunday. Its covered in LED lights, has speakers inside, there's a white star on top that has led's. Its a all day deal to take down a steel sunshade and then put this back up.
