bit late, but a photo of a crane inside the mall. this time for the scrapping of mind benderI can't find any pics. of the crane but it must have been fun putting the spinning roller coaster in at West Edmonton Mall. The floor was reinforced with tele-posts so they could bring in a 30 ton P&H crane in to install the pieces that were lowered through a hole in the roof with a huge crane ( I think a Liebherr 100ton+). The older (70's) P&H had the best profile and chart for working in the extremely tight confines. All the work was done at night because the rest of the amusement park was in operation during the day. Only a couple times was opening at 10 am delayed. The total weight of everything was 320 tons and it weaved around the other roller coasters and rides. During the day they put a barrier around the crane with a spec. sheet like it was a new attraction.

Tree job with the Mack and the fixed basket. They dropped the material straight down, then we took the basket off and picked the pieces out from the inside of the roller coaster track and set them on the outside.

That RT crane is a little smaller than the 30 ton P&H truck crane that installed the spinning coaster. I'm sure they reinforced the floor from underneath with jack stands in a similar way. I'm curious how much the dismantling cost.bit late, but a photo of a crane inside the mall. this time for the scrapping of mind bender
it was translated I believe, but was translated poorly, same thing happened over 40 years later in mexico. on a clone of the ride called "quimera". this video explains it quite well. That RT crane is a little smaller than the 30 ton P&H truck crane that installed the spinning coaster. A little bit further right of your pic. is the dented H beam support marked RIP for when a rider was killed and others seriously injured when the cars came off the track. A couple years ago there were pics. in the paper of where my former boss, who was an ironworker on the Mindbender, wrote a love note to his wife and kids. I think a pic. of the RIP on the dent would have been more interesting. I think the owners should have been forced into bankruptcy. Only a bunch of absolute morons wouldn't think to translate the maintenance manual from German to English!! Unbelievable is an understatement!!!
Bolts weren't overly tight. I would guess it was moving. 4-5 years ago we did rear main, and it had broken bolts in it then., It had two broken bolts in it now.Any idea on the cause , surly not frame twist is it ?
Thanks Tyler, we got one picked up from our engine parts guy on Friday. I appreciate the offer. If you cant find on local i have one thats headed to for junk. Yours for the taking.
If in not misstaken loctite 2892 is whats called for. Permatex probably has a crossThanks Tyler, we got one picked up from our engine parts guy on Friday. I appreciate the offer.
It uses a gasket where the pan meets it, but there is no gasket available for where it bolts to the block. I think we are just going to permatex gasket maker on it.
In a lot of ways, the Internet has made it much easier to locate parts, because there's a much wider area, that you can search. It’s great that a lot of us (especially you) have become really good at locating parts because more and more places are saying things like…
"we don't really deal with any manual transmissions anymore"....
The fact that they say that makes me laugh, they may not but a lot of people do….
