So do they drop each trailer and back each one in, one at a time? What a pain that would be. - Getting paid by the hour though- so who cares how long it takes?

I did find a heavy flatbed this week. Now to decide if I want to take the month of spare time fixing up my old freightliner, which I hate the cab of. Or just buy what I want.
Our larger cranes are all set up with b-trains, it's not that bad. Usually a sharp driver will be able to back the whole unit in, or if it's a bit tight it's not that time consuming to split the trailers. Certainly faster than going back to the yard for another trailer, especially when the yard is hours away

I'm sure it works, its great how different areas have different ways of doing the same thing. Here everyone runs spread axle flat deck or step deck 48-53'. We just unloaded the weights off the rollback trailer and transfered the weights to the old winch truck for a job tomorrow. I can't get the semi in where we have to go. Forget b train, I can't fit a short wheel base truck and a shorter trailer with set forward axles.:)

I have the crane out of dolly 4- miles away, because there's no where else to leave the dolly.

For sure, we've had jobs where you can't get a semi near it, yet they want a 200+ ton crane in there.
A b-train over here let's us carry 3 10 ton slabso counterweight, where we can only get 2 on a 40-50' semi. I think our b-trains are a lot shorter than yours, a whole combination can only be 70' long.

Dropped my youngest daughter at missouri state university last Sunday. She was selected from her school to attend missouri scholars academy, a three week college like experience for high school sophmores. They live in the dorms, have a major and a minor class, and a bunch of extra class like activities.

I'm kind of cynical, so I think its partially a recruitment ad for the college, to get the brightest kids from all over the state to attend your school for a little while is a great recruitment, but I'm still thrilled for her.

I talked to her yesterday and she's having a great time.

Back at the big feed mill, this time with the 100 ton. That's a 180' manlift, and they had a stepladder thrown in the basket because it wasn't quite tall enough for one or two bolts. It sways bad.

I ran all of the main and short jib. I had to bring in a little main for a couple picks, the wind was howling pretty good, and it was the only way to get it up there.

Old crossing got washed out, new boxes. There's only like three houses on the other side of this creek, they've had to take a old forest road to get out while we fix the crossing.

County has a nice new excavator, with a pretty serious looking thumb. They said its not as powerful as the one they sold, but I imagine that's cat putting a little smaller engine to meet emissions.

Been at this building twice this week at 5:00 am. They open at 9:30 so we need to be and out of there before then. They are covering the roof with solar panels, and we've put 90,000lbs of concrete blocks on the roof to hold the stands for the panels down.

They said the payback on the solar was 4 1/2 years, and the power company paid a big portion of it, I don't know how much the power company gets from the gov't.

Wait until we have a wet heavy snowstorm. 20190613_052649.jpg 20190613_052625.jpg 20190613_052147.jpg 20190611_075654.jpg

This is the inside of the building, its a kids adventure experience, we helped build it a few years back. I put the water tank and airplane and conexes in after the building was built. The plane was a tight fit.

White pete is on the road, made a run with the counterweights down to the feed mill and back, blew out a wheel seal, but everything else seems okay.

A2b on the liebherr jib is 1/2 gone. Uses funky wire plugs, but I've seen 4 wire plugs that are much more readily available. :)

Back at the feed mill. All the jib in this time. If you turn the response speed all down in the computer settings, its really smooth with all the boom out.

Moved crane around to the other side Saturday morning. Left the weights on and swung 1/2 the jib in and walked it around the building.

Had to sneak some fuel down there with us too, the liebherr is thirsty.

Going to have to do my dolly modification, and sooner rather than later. In changes of pitch in roadway, the dolly lifts the rear corner of the crane, and I'm chewing the dickens out of my rear tire. I'm going to put a extra pivot in the dolly stand, and hope that helps. Right now the dolly only pivots side to side, I'm going to add a forward/ aft pivot.

This is in my shop driveway corner last night, where I stopped to unlock the gate. Its not like this all the time, it just pitches down and to the right coming into my driveway. That rear tire is 6" off the ground. When it drops back down, if I'm rolling, the differential has it spinning back wards, and its just knocking out chunks of the tire.

The liebherr seems to be running better the more we drive it. Engine was really doggy at first, but it had been sitting for over a year.

It black smokes real hard under a load in mid rpm, it clears out when running high rpm. I would like to get a boost gauge installed and temporary run to the cab and see what the turbo's are doing. I don't hear them at all, spooling up, but they aren't very big turbo's to begin with, and they are back behind me.

Cam lock cannon plug style typical for Euro built machines actually pretty weather tight when new but had a need for dielectric grease that always seemed to be seriously lacking

Likely will not pick up on turbo spool up as is behind
Engine will also be equipped with a waste gate bypass to limit boost may be stuck in a fixed semi open position

I need to look at the intake pipes, I think the boost side of the turbos feed back together and to a common intake. A double check of all the intake clamps wouldn't hurt either. It could be as simple as a loose clamp. I'm sure the pumps don't load it up enough to hear a boost leak.

I sure don't hear much back pressure from the exhaust brakes either. Usually you can hear them when they come on, but I don't hear these. I don't think I can "activate" them electrically when I'm not going down the road. Its all through the computer, I'm sure it can be done, I just don't know how yet. I'll probably just go with a air line up to the brakes and hit the cylinders on each one and see what they do.
