This evening I was pouring some into a farm tractor and as it was drain I spotted it said that it was usable in a to-2 cat application. Would it be safe in a transmission. I'm not trying just curious.

If the manual specifies a TO-2 then there is no reason why it shouldn't be OK.
Most O&Ms that call for TO-2 (as opposed to TO-4) are probably in machines that are by now 40+ years old.

Ok that makes sense to me have to stuck in the file to get out of a bind someday
