Jet drier for frozen fill

Back in 1973/74, I worked on the construction of the largest earthfill dam east of the Miss. River. Great Lakes Construction was the contractor. Fill could not be placed on frozen material. So, they sent out a jet drier to work on the frozen fill, which then allowed more fill to be placed, all winter long. Here are two photos of the dozer with the Allison jet engine built on it. The thing was slow, but kept fill going in all winter. As usual, click on the photo to see the image

And I thought the Zil's with Mig-15 engines mounted on the back for de-icing aircraft, runways, and rail switches looked like they belong in a mad max film.

Yes it was. Plus, they finally just pulled a 4 wheel tank trailer with about 1000 gal of fuel. The fuel tank built on the dozer would not run the jet very long.
