JCB 212s (2cx) Coolant temp sensor

My JCB is a 2000 and I'm not getting temp on the gauge. Started doing a diag on it and the coolant sensor read 1.536k ohm at ambient this morning and 638 ohm after running for 10 minutes. My understanding has been that the resistance goes up with coolant temp so I'm a little perplexed. Anyone able to do a reality check for me on their machine before I fire up the parts cannon?
