I have a Volvo 210 2008 that was running great and been using the heck out of it for the last week and just now it started to defuel and throw up a warning light.

it has oil What would cause it to derate the engine and just keep beeping with the error taking up the whole screen.

how do I check a code on this this

From main menu, scroll down to service, press and hold enter key. Display will say, now entering service mode. Flash and you'll be in service mode. Scroll down to messages , you should see a list if SAE codes. Tell us whatcha got going on in there.

With the engine off on each message is says fault not Active.

But when I start the machine up it goes to a shut down engine with a beep and a red circle light and I can’t check codes with that on

No, they stay till new ones come up or someone with techtool clears them off. Look at the hours when the error occurred for relevance.

I have encountered this before and it will not log a code in the message display, but it does log a code and you will need tech tool to see. What is likely happening is you are losing pressure in the common rail and the engine is derated to protect the fuel system. There are a number of reasons that this will happen. The least expensive route is to change your fuel filters. also check the fuel pressure at the filter minimum should be around 75- 80 psi at idle. Do not attempt to check pressure at the common rail. There is extremely high pressure and it should only be checked using tech tool. There's a long drawn out process to narrow down the issue and you will need special made fittings to even carry out the diagnostics. You may have to call a dealer out or hire a mechanic who has the ability and knowledge to troubleshoot hpcr fuel system. Good luck and I hope that this will help.

Thank you I am working on getting a fuel filter and will work on checking the fuel pressure. Is there a in tank pump that pushes 79-80 psi to the filter ?

Todays update replaced second filter waiting on the first filter with water Separated to get here. Then I’ll try starting it.

I cut open the fine second filter The pleats were black and a small film of almost slimy Black grease on out side of filter pleats inside looked clean.

Hoping this is it but the engine would run up to full rpms for 30 seconds . Before going into limp mode and same amount of time at idle and it would do the same.
