Learn Japanese, get manual translated, (i had to say that sorry) check radiator for water, test for antifreeze ( i like to stick finger in and then lick it), see if fan belt is there and tight, you may have to pull thermostat and test for opening.

Which light are you talking about, engine water temp or hydro temp. When i use my EX50 to doze the temp will climb but not in twenty minutes. I don't have a hydro temp on this machine.

There could be all sorts of causes for overheating.

My Guesses:
-Failed thermostat
-Failed water pump
-Clogged radiator fins (inside blockage preventing coolant flow or dirt preventing air flow around the fins)
-Insufficient coolant

Sometimes even engine oil issues can cause increased heat from friction.

Check these first and see if they are your problems.

And there are many more possible causes that a mechanic would be able to think of...

If you can operate with the hood up, but not with it closed, then blocked airflow passages would be my guess. Look for trash blocking airflow into the fan/rad area.

I have a EX55URC grey market to North America. it seems to operate at 195'F and the temperature gauge is at the top of the range but not in the red. We changed the coolant rad and thermostat. Do i have worn water pump or other problems. is this normal for this machine.

I need an operators hand book for a EX55UR knuckle boom Hitachi excavator in english please anyone know of a site to download or buy these manuals .
Machine is working OK but hydraulic modes only have Jap writing on indicators & I found a blown 10Ampm fuse that may have something to do with the hydraulic controls as they are real sensitive & fast at the moment & there is no indicator lamps lighting on the dash when the switch or switches are moved .?
any one got a clew what these controls .

Disconecting the battery will not clear the fault code from the computer. You need to use a Hitachi dr ex scanner or the laptop version to do so.

The connector should be in the fuse box .I will be a white connector with four pins or could have a white six pin connector with three pin in or both.If you have the Hitachi scanner it will work.I have three tools Iuse. The Dr EX,Palm pilot and a laptop software call WinDr.Let me know if you need any tool numbers or further help.
