I dont know who owns it now. It is one of the last Hayes to be build. Sn#6916. It got the Peterbilt COE cab as Paccar took over ownership from Mack in 1974. Not that many Hayes COE with the Peterbilt cab left the Hayes factory.

Rob Norman Collection Tscan170.jpg his picture is a mobile "A" Frame built in Vancouver by the Hayes Manufacturing Co. for unloading Off Highway Logging Trucks at BCFP's new Dryland sort at BCFP Renfrew Division in the early 1960's ( about 1962 ?) when the Dryland sort opened . It was used until about 1966 . This picture is taken on the Vancouver water front before it was Barged to Port Renfrew .

The HDX should be easily located if still around, appears 12v Detroit in it. Twin Air intakes and twin exhaust indicate not turbo.

Were these private companies or government agencies?
I've heard that the BC government pretty much gave the stumpage to the companies?
British Columbia Forest Products was a privately own Company with share's sold on the stock market . They owned some timber holding and logged on some Government Lands where they were charged a "Stumpage Rate " for timber removed off those lands .

The early HDX Hayes purchased by B.C. Forest Products were powered by inline 6 cylinder Cummins engines . At some point a couple were repowered with V8 Cummins . At Renfrew Division the 222 , 223 , 224 , 225 were powered by V8 Cummins . The 6-232 arrived at Renfrew Division powered by a V12 Detroit , following the 6-232's arrival the 222 , 223 , 224 , 225 were repowered with V12 Detroit engine's . As far as I know most BCFP HDX Hayes were powered by V12 Detroit engine's after 1969 . When BCFP started putting bigger loads on their trucks and hauling loads from the west coast of Vancouver Island to Lake Cowichan on adverse grades , some of the trucks powered by V12 Detroit's were up graded to twin turbo's .
