Has anyone rigged up or seen a cable hooked to the handle so the person wouldnt have to work as hard to uncouple the hitch?

We use a wooden cane to hook/unhook our gooseneck stock trailer. My dad and I are tall enough to reach over the side of the bed and use the cane to swing the latch plate closed and drop the pin. That method didn't work with my gooseneck car hauler though as it had a different style latch.

We also use the same cane to gently encourage cattle onto the trailer when loading.

These our popular in our industry (livestock trailers). There's even one where you can reuse most of your current coupler with a little welding-
