We have a telehandler that has a John Deere motor in it, will start up every time fine.
Runs for 15 min to 30
Min then will shut off.... wait 5 min and it will start back up... Full of fuel and filters changed.

    Any thoughts ?

Welcome fellow Pennsylvanian to HEF Excavator jay;)! Plugged tank vent? Fuel suction line/screen plugged? How about an engine serial number.

How do you pull codes off this machine, still messing with this issue.

Starts, runs at idle or WOT for 4-8 maybe 9 min then shuts off, will run again on starting fluid, or you have to wait 5-6 min for it to run on its own

Did you check the things I mentioned in post #2? When it shuts off does it slowly wind down to shut down (like running out of fuel) or does it shut down like you turned the key off (instantly)? Sounds like the first thing to eliminate is supply pressure issues. Do you have a gauge to check fuel supply pressure?

Hopefully someone familiar with Gehl will have an answer for you. Does the instrument panel have any code lights that are lit or code symbols in the cluster that indicate that their is an active code? How about a picture of the instrument panel.

Does that 4045 have a DE series pump with all the sensors and an ECU on the side of the engine?

On lunch and checked, it's a DE/ECU engine. Only asked since we've been through some odd issues with them and you need a Deere dealer to plug in.

Sounds like you need to check your fuel line pressure for blockage. Spec on the lift pump is 2-4psi IIRC. Watch it after firing up and see if it starts to go down into a vacuum.

    Yes sir that’s it.

I just added an inline fuel pump 4-7psi - going to wire it up in the morning.

it’s like something is turning it off and keeping the fuel from coming.

Tank is clean and vent is in the cap

With a pressure gauge inline with the filter head you'll be able to tell that fuel is reaching your IP. If it is, and is shutting off fuel at the pump, you're most likely looking at one of the sensors/safeties that the ECU reads causing the shutdown until it resets. Depending on how yours is set up it will read coolant temp, low coolant level and oil pressure as shutdown parameters.

From what you've described so far, if fuel pressure shows good, I'd be looking at your cooling system overheating or the temp sensor being out of spec since it's able to start back up after sitting a while (cooldown).

PM me your email and I can send you the tech manual on your fuel system when I get home tonight. Should have all the specs and test procedures.

We had a friend with scan tool come by and this is what we got, he didn’t have Deere software so we could only see codes not engine parameters.
I got it to run for about 30 min and the top radiator hose was hot hot and the bottom cold as could be.

I removed the thermostat housing, going to replace it and coolant sensor.
